Golf Course Day

How was your latest day on a golf course? Today many golfers repeatedly claim that a bad day on the golf course is better than the best day at work. Almost every golfing enthusiast will agree with that opinion.
Whether we are male or female, young or old, our goal is the same. We want to leave a golf course with a feeling of accomplishment. Not necessarily having our lowest score ever recorded.
We want to get away from the worries of home and work. While playing a round of golf we get to spend some time devoting ourselves to a great game.
Golfers are in competition against each other during golf tournaments. Out on the golf course, you would like to accomplish more than just having the best score in your group. While cruising around a golf course, most golfers rarely consider how well, or how bad, the other players are performing. It is more important to get the golf swing right.
Golfers are competing against the golf course and not the other players in the contest. The scores will be added up after the round of golf is completed. Then the friendly banter can begin and the trash talk can begin about winning the next time.
It also has been said that the true measure of a person can be found on a golf course. It is on the golf course that you will be tested for discipline and integrity. The way that a golfer will face challenging situations and make difficult decisions shows a lot. People both nearby and further away will notice your manner of play and your conduct.
Depending on the particular golf course on which you choose to play, the golf course conditions such as the cut of the greens, the length of the fairway grass and the condition of the tee boxes can vary. This may not be a matter of concern if you happen to have the same golf swing Tiger has.
Many golfers think that the private golf courses and country clubs have the finest golfing conditions. Some of the public golf courses have playing facilities that are better than private courses. Quite a few of the public golf courses provide a better setting than some of the expensive courses.
Any golf course is going to have to have more than a name alone if it is going to develop a good reputation. The owners and operators of a golf course are able to make the place either a pleasure or a pain to visit.
Even if the owner of the course is not well liked, chances are you will see the owner only when you start your play. For the next couple of hours the golfers are going to be in a rather solitary situation.
Continuing to play the same golf course over and over again stunts your improvement. If you want to become a better golfer you will need to play at some other golf courses. You will learn how to play different angles and views in unfamiliar territories.
I think David Nevogt provides the best golf instruction.

Indiana Golf Lodgings
Whether your goal is to be the next Tiger Woods or just have some fun, golfing is an incredibly popular sport. Indiana golf lodgings offer you the opportunity to play till your arms fall off.
Indiana Golf Lodgings
When you think of Indiana, your mind might not immediately go to golf. Many people consider this state to be the home of racing with the Indy 500 held here in Indianapolis, but it’s also a great midwestern getaway for golf enthusiasts. With many different golf courses and lodgings located here, chances are you’ll find just the right place for your golf vacation.
A quick look at Indiana Traveler’s website lists many different golf courses in many different towns and cities. While these are all options for the golf vacationer, it’s often better to combine your golf course and resort in one place. One of the largest of the Indiana golf lodgings is Swan Lake, located in Plymouth, Indiana. This resort is home to the Indiana National Golf Club and the US Golf Academy. The Indiana National Golf Club houses two championship golf courses, and the Golf Academy has lessons and other activities available for the golfer. Swan Lake is a beautiful building, picturesque and perfect for weddings and meetings as well as vacations. There are 92 guest rooms, four cottages and two cabins available as lodgings, and other amenities include spas and pools for those times you’re not on the links.
A second of the many Indiana golf lodgings available is the Eagle Pointe Golf Resort just 10 minutes south of Bloomington, Indiana. This resort offers a 6700 yard championship golf course, a pro shop, driving range and a PGA professional on staff. The lodgings here are also first rate; they are all condos with one to four bedrooms each, and they include use of the pools and other amenities. This resort also has spectacular views of the Monroe Reservoir, Indiana’s largest lake.
One last look at the Indiana golf lodgings brings us to the French Lick Springs Resort and Casino. This resort, located in French Lick, Indiana, combines all of the excitement of a casino and spa retreat with great golfing. Under renovation until November 2006, the hotel will house 442 guest rooms and be opulent and impressive. Located on the resort property is the Donald Ross Course, which held many national and regional tournaments, and will in August 2006 be reopened after being renovated and restored.
There are many different places in the country to golf, but choosing one of the Indiana golf lodgings will allow you not only a golfing vacation, but also a great stay at a great resort. Centrally located in the Midwest United States, these lodgings are a great place for anyone in the US to come and relax, and get in a few rounds of golf while you’re there.

Getting custom fit golf clubs
November 17, 2009 by admin
Every golfer’s physical capability and swing is distinctive. Many of today’s best golf clubs can be custom fit for lie angle, shaft type and length, grip type and size. Custom fitting golf clubs involves several easy measurements and a quick self-assessment of your game. This custom golf club has become more than a fad that even not so professional golfers test its waters.
Custom fitting is the process for tailoring a golf club to suit your personal swing.
Whatever your level, with a custom golf club the aim is to ensure that if you do make a good swing, the club will be square at impact and should produce a straight shot.
Custom Golf Club How To’s:
To custom fit your golf clubs, you need to know: your gender (male or female); your height in your stockings or socks; the distance from your wrist (where it bends) to the floor with your shoes off; your age; your handicap or skill level; how fast you swing a golf club; what club you use at the 150 yard marker.
Gender is used to put you into the correct fitting scale for custom golf clubs. The golf industry uses different definitions of “standard length” for men and women.
Your height and the distance in inches from your wrist to the floor are used together to determine the length of a custom golf club that is appropriate for you. The starting point for club length can vary up to 3 ½-inch ranging from ladies to men plus 1 ½-inch. A tall person with long arms can very easily require shorter clubs than an average height person with short arms. About 80 percent of all golfers are of a standard length.
Your age, handicap (if you happen to have one), self-assessed skill level, estimated golf swing speed and club you use at the 150 yard marker are all combined to determined the custom golf club’s shaft flex that is appropriate for you.
A custom fit club can fix your slice. If you slice the ball, this means that the toe of the club is leading into the ball which opens the face of the club. That could be caused by a swing fault, but it could be because the club is too flat. So when in the custom fitting process you can make the custom golf club more upright to help with this. This will mean that the toe of the club will be slightly off the ground at address to compensate.
There are different methods of fitting according to custom golf club manufacturers but ultimately they are all trying to improve your game. To start with simple measurements such as wrist-to-floor, height and hand size are taken and will point you to the right size club and at what angle it should be to the ground. Then you will take a club and hit some balls. One method is to place impact tape on the bottom of the custom golf club and an impact board on the floor.
As you hit the ball the board will leave a mark on the tape showing whether the heel or the toe of the custom golf club is striking the floor first. The resulting mark will show whether the club face needs to be flatter or more upright. Then things get a bit more advanced. Analysis equipment can measure everything from your club speed to the side spin of the ball so that you can get maximum distance from your shot. You should also measure the launch angle of the ball, how much backspin you generate and impact efficiency - all which affect distance. The angle in which the custom golf club approaches the ball and the sidespin of it can help fix your game too.
Why don’t you start from scratch, instead of bringing down your old clubs,. It’s a big mistake to think that custom fitting is only for the best golfers. Almost anyone will benefit. If you consider to upgrade a new set of clubs from the same manufacturer they may be able to adjust your old set to become custom golf clubs.
Custom fitting won’t cure all your bad shots. Coaching will sort that out. Once you first made a good swing, then the custom golf club will arrive correctly at impact and should produce a straight shot at your target. That alone will save shots during a round.
Lastly, custom fitting is often free of charge. But it is usually on the condition that you buy some golf clubs once you’ve been fitted. So it really depends on what your budget is. If you’re prepared to buy a new set of clubs it’s definitely worth getting fitted.

A golf course, it is a haven to golfers all over the world. Everyone enjoys a good game of golf on a fresh green golf course these days and for good reason, this is one sport that is no longer just for the wealthy. The game of golf is one of the most relaxing, enjoyable games on the face of the plant.
Golf is great and the golf courses are key to this greatness .Golf courses make for great exercise and the sense of competition keeps the game interesting. What is gold without a wonderful golf course to play it on? if their golfing is to be any fun at all, golfers need a gorgeous and fun golf course
The best golf course is one that will be built with the USGA method of building in mind. A golf course is designed in a manner that is pleasing to the eye while still having the absolute best playing field.
There should be plenty of slopes and hills and many a pond thrown into the golf course design. The next time that you are playing on a golf course take some time to look around at the beauty and the elegance that surround you. A golf course is truly a feat of unimaginable eloquence. The amount of time that is poured into the design of a golf course is astronomical.
The designers of golf courses are world famous, some of them, and they have proven time and time again the great skill with which they approach each and every golf course that they design.
Good golf courses are not built on the cheap, they are expensive, extremely expensive, but they are worth every penny to those who play on them. A golf course is not just designed to be pleasing to the eye, it is scientifically mapped out for the ultimate in game play. A golf course is rarely appreciated as much as it should be.

Dont Get Ripped Off In Golf Vacations
November 7, 2009 by admin
Whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or a 10 day golf adventure to the Caribbean, there is one thing in common with all golf trips and vacations… rip-offs are common.
Here are a few things to be careful of when booking your next golf trip.
1. As Well Cart Fee.
Many courses will require you to rent a cart, even though your package deal never mentioned it. Make sure you know up front if cart fees are included and required.
2. Course Surcharges
You may be offered to “upgrade” to a better course when you arrive at your destination. These is a common practice in many areas. The fact is that the course you “upgrade” to in many cases would not be any better than the course you are booked on.
3. Internet Deals
Many golf trips these days are sold by internet resellers. Price may be right and they have no idea of the local market. They are selling a commodity and could care less what other events are happening in the area or what local conditions are. Dealing with local people on the area you plan to visit will eliminate many of these surprises.
4. Does you need a package deal?
You would find that package deals sometimes will cost you more than just booking a hotel and a “golf” market and winging it. Once you book your accommodations, concierge or front desk will be able to direct you to the best deals. This works during the off peak times especially. So many people get involved in package deals that the prices can be increased by 50-75% over what it would cost you to book it yourself.
To save a ton of money, call the local area Better Business Bureau (all the offices are online at bbb.com) and ask for information on the local public courses. In addition just Google “Golf In, you will come up with a ton of options.

9 Tips for playing well under pressure

Get Every Putt to the Hole
Because the player decelerates on the through-stroke, it makes most putts come up short . Minimize Your Swing Thoughts
Preshot: Visualize what you want the ball to do.
Address: Align the clubface where you want the ball to go.
Swing thought: Freely swing the clubhead.
Survive The First-tee Jitters
Nervousness makes you speed up your tempo, which affects consistency and accuracy. Like you want to hit it only 100 yards, swing your driver smoothly .
Make More Tough Short Putts
Set your putterface square to the desired line, then square your feet and shoulders to that line. Not at the ball but make a smooth stroke while looking at the target .
Take More Club on Par 3s
Few amateurs hit the ball over or through the green on par 3s; most come up short. If you hit it flush, you’re on; You still might make it to the putting surface, if you hit it less than solidly .
Score Lower on Par 5s
Your favorite yardage into the green and make the last shot. Divide the difference by two when subtract that yardage . With this strategy, you’re hitting lofted clubs that are easier to hit and more accurate.
Good greenside bunker players accelerate the clubhead through the shot, letting the sand “splash” the ball out. Set up with the face of your sand wedge slightly open, the ball slightly forward in your stance. Hit the sand behind the ball, and finish your swing like you’re hitting a full 5-iron.
Chip with Your Putting Stroke
To avoid chunking or skulling your chip shots, take a lofted club like a 7-, 8- or 9-iron and grip it like your putter. Lean the shaft and your body toward the target for a slightly descending blow. Make your putting stroke, allowing the loft of the club to carry the ball over the unpredictable turf onto the green.
Get Your Irons Airborne
Most topped shots occur when you try to help the ball into the air with a scooping motion.

Exercises For Golfers Pay Huge Dividends

Exercises for golfers may seem like an oxymoron, but I’m here to tell they are most definitely not. Golf is physical! Golf causes injury! Golf can very easily break down the body! To hit the ball maximum distance, your body has to have a higher level of golf specific strength and flexibility.
The above statements are fact.
To play your best golf you need to implement exercises for golfers as soon as possible. The sooner you start, the sooner you will see results on the course.
So what’s the difference between doing exercises for golfers and going to the gym and plopping down on machines ?
First off…do you sit when you play golf?
Then why would you sit in a “controlled” machine thinking it will improve your golf?
Golf is in a dynamic position “on your feet” (golf posture).
Because the demands for golf are so unique, you need to approach your golf improvement from a different angle than just going into a gym and thinking it will help your golf game.
Exercises for golfers doesn’t just mean strength exercises. You’ve get to do golf stretching exercises as well.
Whenever I hear a golfer say he/she needs to stretch more…my first thought is “they are missing the boat”. Golf stretching without golf exercise is not permanent flexibility.
Here’s an example for you.
Stretch a rubber band. Now stretch it more and more. What happens to the rubber band? It gets brittle and eventually break.
Picture your muscles just like that rubber band.
The winning combination is golf exercise and golf stretching . This will give you the best results.
When putting together your exercises for golfers program, take a look at the body position required to make a mechanically sound swing.
You can do golf exercises specific to this position, once you realize this dynamic and very unique position .
Things to remember.
• Do the majority of your golf exercises on your feet.
• Do them in your golf posture if at all possible.
• Keep your knees flexed, just like your golf swing.
• Do as many rotational exercises as possible.
• Make sure to do the follow through side of the swing.
• Do a high enough repetition to promote golf muscular endurance.
Exercises for golfers can be fun and keep you motivated to stick with your program. Adherence is the main culprit for lack of results. Like any fitness or weight loss program, if you don’t do it consistently you won’t see the results.
Staying motivated by picturing the “end-result” on the course will be a huge help. Envision you on that first tee a more powerful and fit golfer. Picture blasting your drives by all your playing partners. And lastly, when you play in your normal golf groups, paint a strong visual of you having the lowest score consistently .
I hope you now have a better understanding of exercises for golfers.

Exercise training for golf is what every golfer who is serious about improving their golf swing power and mechanics should be focusing on…especially senior golfers in the “off-season” or winter months.
If you’ve read any of my article you’ll know where I’m coming from.
“Your body dictates your golf swing!”
“A broken body will never achieve optimal golf performance”.
“You’re only as good as your ‘physical limitations’ would allow you.”
You heard it hear first. I have used for over 10 years with golfers of all ages, abilities and sexes, My quotes above are “my quotes” .
I’ve seen it thousands of time throughout the past 10 years. They want to quit the game, golfers getting so frustrated .
They’re took lessons. They have practiced til their hand bled. And they own the greatest/latest equipments.
And…
They are NOT playing any better!
Why?
Because their body is kept them from what they think they can do. There is a gap between the mind & the body.
You can will a great game in your mind as much as you want, but if your body isn’t capable…it will NEVER happen!
They were the cold hard facts.
The sooner you can start your exercise training for golf and see real results, the sooner you realize your body is the “magic bullet’.
This results will be long lasting too!
No band-aid swing fixes that don’t even last for 18 holes.
Your exercise training for golf program should focus on your personal, physical limitations to safe time and money. Eliminate your limitations and watch the golf game soar!
I’m here to MOTIVATE you…not sugar-coat it!
It’s time to regain those lost yards off the tee, and get back to shooting scores you did years ago!

Six Keys to Selecting The Right Golf School
November 2, 2009 by admin
There are a lot tips to selecting the school which is worthy of the investment, and this is not an exhaustive list .
1) Golfing style
Golf can be played in many styles, as with any topic or subject matter to learn. Some play aggressively, others, like me, more conservatively. But ultimately you have to choose a school or instructor that matches you.
Your style, your personality, your skills.
2) Problem areas
I have trouble with slicing. I find that my shot slice to the right Consistently. You, to be sure, have at least one issue on your game or specific shots. You might want to found a school to address and help correct that shortcoming. If you come back from a long weekend and your slice has vanished, you would have had time (and money) well spent.
3) Instructor to class-size ratio
This is a personal preference item. Several people learn on a group setting (even craze the interaction). It may as well depend on what you are trying to gain from the school which one you actually choose.
4) Price
Golf is your life and no amount of money is too much if you improve your game, and thus your enjoyment. For other, there was big obstacle. If you are considering a golf school then you know that most start over 00. There are some “big name” instructor offering half day lessons for ,000.
Do not forget to add in travel, lodging, and food costs, if you are price sensitive then, by all means. Many times this “incidentals” can double overall cost.
5) Proximity
What is your traveling distance? Is the schedule tight so slipping off within 100 miles for a half day lesson is all you can squeeze. One plus of keeping tabs on those schools “in your own backyard” is when these offer last-minute specials you can jump on those quickly.
6) Length of training
Like any good consultant would answer, it depends. It depends on whether you’re looking for a long weekend, a one day seminar, or wrapping a vacation around your training. These is an important factor on choosing a school so compare wisely.
