People say that golf necessitates both brawn and brains. With golf being one of the highest rated spectator sports on the planet, it is no surprise that there are budding golfers popping up all over the place. One important factor that will detach you from the rest of the pack is your golf swing technique.
The golf swing technique for each golfer varies, even when compared between professional golfers. The golf swing motion looks simple, but actually requires plenty of focus and precision during execution. A wrong swing could lead to an embarrassing miss of the ball, or worse- send the ball into a sand trap.
Hence why it is important that the first thing a golfer learns is how to swing properly. First of all, every player must aim to finish high. Aiming high prevents golfers from hooking the ball, and instead, allows the ball to travel in a straighter line.
If you have a solid swing, you could attempt to hit the ball with over-the-shoulder swing as well. If executed well, you could probably eliminate at least 5 strokes off your score chart. Other than aiming high, the golfer should also use higher tees.
Change your lower tees from two and three quarter inch tees to three inch tees. This is especially essential when the golfer is using an over-sized driver. Also, ensure that the ball is teed up until half of it is above the club face in order for your club face to hit the best surface area on the golf ball.
Always aim to set the ball higher, but also remember to align the globe with your left foot. If you are left handed, align the golf ball with your right foot. Do not tee the ball near your right foot (or your left foot if you are left handed) to prevent the ball from traveling straight up instead of going at an angle.
Remember, the objective of a swing is to get the ball to move while the golf club is sweeping upwards. In order to increment your golf ball traveling distance, all you have to do it adjust your stance and hit the ball at the ideal spot during the upswing. Having said all that, do remember also that golf is a physical as well as a psychological game.
Golf requires patience and dedication, hence, it is advisable to set realistic goals and upgrade them as you progress. The most common mistake amateurs make during a golf game is becoming emotional and feel negative, at a time when it is most essential to stay focused and analytical. There are some games which are rewarding yet frustrating at the same time; and golf is definitely one of these. Building your skills as a golfer is mostly about improving your golf swing technique. Most people will tell you that you can never actually have a perfect swing but it is instead a process of continual improvement. If you’ve been frustrated by seeing your drives go slightly awry, only to wonder why you can’t hit them like that all the time when you do manage to get a satisfying swing off, this article may be able to help.
It is your Golf Swing Technique which makes all the difference in how your drives go. As in bowling or baseball, there is something of a science to a good swing; it’s all a matter of learning what works best for you. Naturally, it’s harder than it looks on paper, but the following tips may help you to find the golf swing technique which best suits your game.
The 3 Parts Of Your Swing
A golf swing has three parts: backswing, downswing and follow through. All three are equally important to your swing and each needs to have a fluency of motion. Understanding each of these three parts will help you to improve your technique - many golfers find is helpful to be able to break down their swing into distinct parts when trying to improve their game.
The Stance
If you’re not an advanced player, then you should probably stick with the same stance every time. Your feet should be slightly apart, lined up with your shoulders, knees bent slightly; just enough to help you to keep balanced as you shift your weight during the backswing.
Grip
Just like your stance, you’ll want to use the same kind of grip consistently. If you’re inexperienced as a golfer or are having trouble with making the scores you’d like, then you should use a simple interlock grip style. Your grip has to be tight enough to retain control over your club while still giving you enough flexibility to make your swing easily.
Practicing while Playing
Remember that when you’re playing a round of golf that this is also a time that you can use to get some practice in. Although you should not repeatedly try out your techniques when it would get in the way of other players, take every opportunity to practice your golf swing technique.
Get In Better Shape
There’s more benefits to being in shape and building flexibility than just getting healthier; as important as that is, when you’re in good shape, your golf game will also improve. The more strength and flexibility you have, the more control you’ll have and the better you’ll be able to keep your balance.
There are a lot of different things which go into developing a winning golf swing technique; and the tips presented here are by no means all of them. The more you learn and the more you practice, the better you game will be.
